Pat McHugh - Necedah - Pat was on the board of directors and was active at travel and sport shows promoting his
business, community and county. Pat has sold his business but continues to be as active as possible in supporting the association.
Russ & *Betty Ternes - Ken's Marina - Necedah, WI - Ken Ternes, Russ's father, joined the CRPLA in 1966 and served on the Board of Directors for 5 years. In 1974, Russ took over the business and has been a board member since that time. Russ says his main reason for being a member all these years is because itʼs the strongest local tourism group promoting the area and encompassing both counties. Russ has attended many sport & travel shows over the years.
Jan & Earl Reynolds - Mauston - Jan moved to Mauston in 1945 when she was a senior in high school. That is where she met her husband Earl, Sr. Class President, Football & Basketball player and boxer. They were married in 1948. Earl's profession was a computer programmer and Jan taught school for 34 years and worked every summer of her life at Woodside Ranch since she was 14 years old. They have both served as officers and on the board of directors with CRPLA that entire time. Their vision and desire for Juneau County to be a tourist destination has resulted in a lifelong dedication to CRPLA.
* In Memory of Lucille Nichols, Wilber “Alec” Alexander, George Siegler, and Lois Podewils. These individuals were some of the original founders of the CRPLA. Volunteers such as these helped grow the region economically and build a strong tourism industry.
Basil Berggren - Necedah - In 1970 Basil and his wife Ruth, business owners from Madison, WI moved to Juneau County. They purchased and operated the Wilderness Inn in Sprague, north of Necedah, for 11 years. Basil not only advertised with CRPLA during those years but also took Juneau and Adams County promotion to many sports and travel shows and was a very active member of the CRPLA. Basil and Ruth moved into the village of Necedah in 1998 and are active members in their community. They sit on the board of directors and Basil is the Vice President of the Association. Basil believes in the importance of CRPLA's mission statement as an integral part of the promotion of Juneau County and the surrounding area.
Margaret and her husband, Ulie Pereiro observed that visiting tourists were interested in not just one side of thetwo enormous lakes of Castle Rock and Petenwell but in both the Adams and Juneau Co. sides plus the surrounding area. Therefore, they joined the present CRPLA which promotes both counties. They have served as association officers and directors for many years. Through the association, they found new markets in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and all of Wisconsin. This colorful booklet which you are reading is published by the association to showcase both counties. In the past 5 years, over 400,000 copies have been given to interested tourists.
Mike Istvanek - St. Joseph's Resort - Necedah - Mike moved to Juneau County from Kenosha in 1990 and purchased his family business in Necedah. The previous owner of the resort was the treasurer for CRPLA and encouraged Mike to become an active member as well as advertiser. Mike saw the value in such an active tourism group, which takes the business owner and the communities to the prospective traveler. Mike has attended sport and travel shows, is an active board member as well as a community leader and is a strong supporter of CRPLA.
Deanna Newlun - Wonewoc - Deanna and her husband Chris own Poorman's Trucking LLC in Wonewoc. She is a tremendous asset representing her area. She also had been a board member of the Mauston Chamber. Deanna and her husband realize the importance of a strong organization that is committed to focusing on and promoting tourism, which has a huge economic impact on every citizen throughout Juneau County. Deanna has participated in events of the association and is instrumental in setting and reaching goals.
Barbara Baker - Mauston - Barbara has been President of the CRPLA since 1996. She has been the Ex. Dir. of the JC Visitor & Convention Bureau since l998. She has a strong sense of community and presently is a Mauston Alderperson. Her background is filled with strong leadership skills and presently sets on the JC ALP board. She has a background in commercials, comedy, drama and film. Barbara's private consulting business CAFE' has lead to several events planned throughout the region over the years.
Ed Huneck - Member of the Tourism Commission. We are proud to be partners with the Union Center Area and Hill Country Chamber.
Steve Barbera - Steve and his wife Angie are the present owners of CastleRock HideAway near CastleRock Lake. Steve has represented the area at the Milwaukee Sport Show for the past several years. He has strong business skills and is a welcomed addition to the board.
Dave Specht - Elected to CRPLA board in '06: Dave has been a resident of Germantown Township for the past 10 years. He grew up on a large family farm in Iowa and has a strong background in Agriculture. He holds a BS in Rural Sociology and Rural Economic Development. His military career as 1st Lt. Company Commander was with the US Army Corp of Engineers. Dave is presently a Germantown Board Supervisor, sets on the Planning Commission and is Chairman of Smart Growth. He is employed by the State of WI as a Food Safety Inspector and enjoys his leisure time sailing on CastleRock Lake. Welcome Aboard Dave!
Virgil Schlorke - Virgil and his family recently relocated to the Necedah area from Green Bay in 2006. He replaced Gerald Ganther who recently retired from the position of Wisconsin River Power Company's Supervisor. The Schlorke family enjoys camping, fishing, hiking and biking and they are looking forward to all of the many great recreational opportunities the Petenwell and Castle Rock areas have to offer
Carin Leach - Clerk/Treasurer for Lemonweir Township-Carin has lived in Mauston since l987. She is married with three children and has one grandchild. Carin says she grew up with tourism while living and working in WI Dells for 18 years. In her position Carin sees first hand how businesses and households in Juneau County rely on the tourism industry.
