QUEEN OF THE HOLY ROSARY MEDIATRIX OF PEACE SHRINE

There are 14 grottos situated on 4 acres in a park like setting. This does not include the parking lot and bath rooms. On August 15, 1950 over 100,000 people and on October 7, 1950 over 125,000 people came to the Shrine from all over the country as well as other parts of the world. This was in all the major publications. The Shrine currently has a copy of the Life Magazine article from August 28, 1950 about the events. Although the crowds are much smaller there are still between 2,000 and 3,000 people that come to the Shrine each year from all over the United States The Shrine is staffed by volunteers and supported solely through private donations. Working in the information booth you meet a lot of people. Some are there for the first time and others have been coming for years. A lot of Polish visitors from the Chicago area come every year. The Shrine is a great point of interest as a destination in Necedah and Juneau County. Check out the Shrine website at www.queenoftheholyrosaryshrine.com
